(Oh, I'm obsessed with Batman, be prepared for that)
Yes, I know it's nothing special in today's world, especially when a ten-year-old can kick my @ss in Call of Duty (not sure if I can curse yet) and post it on YouTube in a couple of minutes.
So here is a super, quick bio, let me formally introduce myself, I'm Tevin Akpoborie, and I was born in Saarbrucken, Germany. I moved to the United States when I was young and I have been here ever since. My interests are video games, movies, television, comics and almost anything geeky. Batman is the greatest (I'll fight a five-year-old to prove it, I don't give a fudge). My favorite game of all time is, as you've probably guessed, Batman Arkham Knight, my favorite movie the Dark Knight, my favorite TV show is Mr. Robot (Ha! you thought it was going to be Batman related), and I don't know what else to put here, so let's move on.

So, let's talk about one of the biggest movies coming out this year, Batman V. Superman (sorry guys, seems this first post is going to be all about Batman, I promise I have other interests). BVS has the potential of either being one of the greatest movies ever or a disaster in the making, and I think that it will be the former. Everyone knows this movie exists because DC saw the billions Avengers made and now DC films exist. There is talk about how Lex Luther and Wonder Woman was miscast, the movie is too dark and devoid of color, and the trailer revealed too much. OK, the last one is true, but it seems everything involved with the movie is automatically hated, or criticized. You don't see too many people talking about how Captain America Civil War is crowded (so far twelve superheroes), but I'm trying to bring down that movie because that movie is definitely going to be awesome. I get the feeling that no one is giving BVS a chance, so let's turned some of those negatives into positives and hype you up for the movie (last time I use the word hype I promise).
Miscasts
(Brooding Intensifies)
Ever since Ben Affleck was cast there has been rage everywhere, on the streets, on the internet (although the internet is always raging about something), and on message boards. If you look at the history of Batman films, Batman 1989 in particular, fans always get unsettled at the announcement. If I remember (not actually remembering since I didn't exist) Michael Keaton announcement was not met with praise. Everyone thought, how can an actor known for comedies play the Dark Knight? Well, Keaton figured it out and Ben Affleck can too. Look at that picture, that looks like Batman (He had just the right amount of brooding). More importantly, like Keaton, Affleck is a good actor, and that is what the character of Batman needs, a good actor. Look at Gone Girl, the Town, and Argo, those movies all feature a good performance by Affleck, and if you listen to his interviews, he seems like he is really dedicated. Come on, look at that picture that is freaking Batman. Then there is Lex Luther, now I'll admit this is a harder sell, but let's look at the one role that Jesse Eisenberg basically played a pre-Lex Luther in the Social Network. In that movie, he played a cut-throat CEO who was willing to sacrifice everything to build his empire. Doesn't that sound like someone we know? Basically, Eisenberg is reprising his role just under a different name. Like Ben Affleck, Jesse Eisenberg is a good actor. Then, probably the most annoying criticism, Gal Gadot is too skinny to play Wonder Woman. I don't want to get into a body image argument because I don't think I am the person to talk about it, but Wonder Woman doesn't look like a body builder, so why does Gal Gadot have to look like she can bench 500 pounds. There is already a huge criticism on the entire geek world about how women are perceived, and come on, there is no denying it any longer. So let's give Ms. Gadot a chance, she does have the most to prove since she hasn't been in many films, a least compared to her other costars, then again, Warner Bros. is putting together an entire movie based around Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman.
Too Dark, Too Serious
(The Bat of Gotham V Son of Krypton)
Looking at the current state of the superhero movies, from Marvel its brightly colored, lots of jokes and gags, but still awesome. Then you look at Fox and the X-Men, they are a little more serious but a lot more sci-fi (although, Deadpool looks like it will take the crown for funniest superhero movie from Marvel). What does DC do? There's a chance that people will say DC is just copying Marvel beat from beat if they take their formula. So, DC wants to go in a different direction, good for them, because superhero movies will start to blend with each other if everyone took the Marvel formula. DC's goal looks like it wants to bring these heroes more into our world. How would the world react if an alien, with the power of god, land on earth? How will police handle a guy who is technologically and physically superior to them? What are the repercussions to superheroes fighting and destroying a city? Marvel's movies (and I'm concentrating on them more because let's face it that is who DC is really competing with) barely touch that subject because they want the audiences to feel powerful with no regrets and that's OK. The last Avengers movie showed a part where the people didn't the Avengers being in their city, but if you blinked you would miss that part. DC wants to answer those questions, and those questions can't be answered in a Marvel style move. So, Superman is loved and hated, and Batman is seen as a crazy psychopath. So what would happen if these two battled tomorrow? (Don't look at me I haven't seen the movie, but I bet Batman wins). That idea is what makes it interesting and should make the audience more invested in the movie. That's also why the movie is so dark because our world is dark. (Wow, that was depressing, my bad).
The Fight
(Black and Blue, God vs Man, Day vs Night)
(Read this in Morgan Freeman's voice in your head, it sounds epic). Where does that leave us? Two of the most iconic characters prepare to do battle on the silver screen for the first time. In one corner, a god from another planet, sent here to save the human race. A god who relishes in the mundane because he feels more human doing it. He is a symbol of hope (apparently that is what the "S" stands for). In the other corner, a man hell-bent on ridding the world of the criminal scum. He is willing to give up his humanity to the missions. He is not a symbol of hope; he is the nightmare the criminals see when they close their eyes. What happens when these two extremes meet? We'll find out March 25. Then, five months later we see this crazy bunch fudge things up.
The Batman V. Superman Dawn of Justice (OK, I'm not a big fan of the name either, but hey its Batman and Superman in one movie) hypetrain is coming through (I know I said I would stop with the hype, but come on it's the name of the blog). Whoa, that was a long post. Sorry, I get like this when it comes to Batman. Well, I guess that ends my first post.
